Albany County commissioners voted to adopt amendments to the employee handbook that add generative AI use guidelines and a generative AI usage statement for the county website. Staff framed the policy as protective — to prevent sensitive or confidential county data from being uploaded to unvetted AI platforms — and said the usage statement will disclose county use of generative AI where applicable.
