Highway Department has two vacancies; interview scheduled as winter staffing concern
Highway Commissioner Ben Rich told the committee the department has two vacant positions, one applicant and an interview scheduled for Oct. 1, 2026; the department operates 16 winter routes but ideally needs about 18 drivers and will begin the Town of Woodboro maintenance agreement at the end of October.

Commissioner Ben Rich reported that Highway Department equipment was operating satisfactorily but that two driver positions remained vacant. The openings had been advertised for two weeks and one application had been received; an interview for the applicant was scheduled for Oct. 1, 2026. Rich said the applicant held a commercial driver's license and appeared to meet qualifications.
