Sheriff Mike Fisher told the Board that the Medi‑Cal County Inmate Program (MCIP) agreements had been omitted during staff transitions and recommended formalizing continued participation to preserve coverage for catastrophic inmate medical costs. He cited a prior case where the program saved the County about $560,000 when an inmate required extended hospitalization.
