The State Controlling Board voted to add and approve a late Secretary of State request to fund constitutionally required newspaper inserts of Issue 3 ballot language and pro/con arguments; the office said contracting and printing must start immediately to meet deadlines.

The State Controlling Board unanimously added and approved a late request from the Ohio Secretary of State to pay for newspaper publication of Issue 3 ballot materials. Leslie Piet, chief financial officer for the Secretary of State’s office, told the board the item was a late add because the ballot board approved the issue after the meeting’s submission date and the office "needed to be in contract and start the printing process in order to meet the constitutionally required deadlines."
