At a budget workshop on Aug. 25, 2026, the Houston County Commissioners Court amended the proposed FY2027 budget to add funding for in‑car computers and to authorize overtime pay for the Houston County Sheriff’s Office. The amendment followed presentations by Sheriff Zak Benge and Jail Administrator Donovan Mahan requesting additional staffing and equipment, and comments from commissioners about comp time versus overtime.
