The full story

Carson City adopted its second Language Access Plan (LAP) on July 2 as required by Assembly Bill 266. Staff described the LAP as a streamlined document that documents resources to assist people with limited English proficiency and emphasizes Spanish-language services, citing Census data showing Spanish is the primary LEP language locally. Presenter Cameron Gresha said, "For the purposes of our discussion, that is overwhelmingly Spanish," and explained that the plan formalizes existing department tools rather than imposing a single standardized approach across departments.
