Commissioners authorize small group to develop parameters for countywide salary study

Commissioners discussed plans for a countywide salary study to update data not refreshed in nearly a decade. Board members said the scope should be narrow and use carefully chosen comparator counties, job descriptions and experience/tenure considerations. One commissioner said previous work used Metropolitan Statistical Area comparisons because of limited local comparators; others advocated including neighboring counties and larger state counties for context.
