Committee votes to remove La Perouse Bay reference from Keone'o'io entry

Members debated whether to retain references to historic European names. Member Rollins Fernandez moved to delete the parenthetical reference "also known today as La Perouse Bay" for the Keone'o'io entry; supporters characterized the deletion as restoring Indigenous place names. Member Alice Lee said she had difficulty supporting deletion because the European name is widely recognized locally, but the roll call returned 6 ayes, 1 no and 2 excused, so the committee approved the change.
