Board formalizes workout-time policy for officers, emphasizing coverage rules

The board voted to adopt a written workout-time policy that records an existing practice allowing officers scheduled workout time so long as it does not interfere with patrol duties, calls or emergency responses. Staff said the policy simply puts in writing what has been the practice and includes guidance that supervisors be aware and that officers coordinate coverage with partners.
