NDOT: sidewalks aren’t part of traffic‑calming program; separate sidewalk program exists

NDOT staff told Basswood residents that sidewalks are typically funded and built through a separate sidewalk program focused on arterials and high‑crash corridors, and that traffic‑calming projects generally deploy lower‑cost quick‑build measures instead.

Multiple residents asked why sidewalks — which several said would best improve pedestrian safety — were not included in proposed traffic‑calming plans.
