Board members reported on a recent tour of a US Signal data center and discussed local policy options to guide data-center siting. A supervisor who attended the Waukee visit described high security, enclosed generators, air- or antifreeze-based cooling systems and low outside-water use, and said the facility's assessed value and 2026 payable taxes were notable. "They had more security than our than our jails," the supervisor said of the center.
