Commissioners proclaim Pink Ribbon Fund Week, Business Women's Week, Operation Greenlight and National Newspaper Week

The board issued several community proclamations honoring local organizations and observances. Nick Gordon, vice president of the Bedford County Pink Ribbon Fund, read a proclamation designating Oct. 11——17, 2026 as Pink Ribbon Fund Week and said the volunteer fund has helped roughly $420,000 to families since 2017 and "every cent that this fund raised stays in Bedford County." Joan Lasalle, president of the Bedford Business and Professional Women's Club, read a proclamation recognizing National Business Women's Week (Oct. 15——21, 2026) and highlighted the club's scholarship work (about $12,000 awarded to recent high school graduates).
