Community Development Director Maria Turner and Deputy Administrator Shannon Walker Smith told the board the county used a CalRecycle grant to run six free dump days and abate 29 illegal‑dumping sites, collecting 872 tons of trash and metal (about 2,000,000 pounds) and removing 923 tires. Staff said many of the cleaned sites were later self‑abated by property owners after outreach.
