County Engineer Dan Carlin asked the commission to approve applying to MDT's Better Local Bridges program for the Birdtail Road over Flat Creek Bridge replacement project and summarized the funding plan: "This grant application is to provide funding for the Bird Veil Road over Flat Creek Bridge project for an amount up to $1,000,000." He said the estimated total project cost is $1,510,000; the county has applied to the Montana Coal Endowment Program for $750,000 (which requires a 50% match) and — if both awards are secured — the MDT request would be $608,640 with a local match of $152,162.
