The full story
City Manager Valentine told the Council that the Neff Road Pump Station lacked a documented arc‑flash study and required NFPA 70E labeling and maintenance; hydrogen sulfide in the station atmosphere can accelerate corrosion and increase fire hazard risk. Staff solicited proposals and presented three responses: Turner Electric (cleaning $20,464; study $29,238), Rotor Electric (cleaning $18,400 including DTE coordination; study $28,980), and Ferndale Electric (unable to provide a proposal for scope). Rotor Electric's proposals included coordination with DTE to fully disconnect the 4,800‑volt incoming lines for safe cleaning.
