After hearing arguments for appointing the Town Clerk to allow an application-based hiring and against that change to preserve voter accountability, the Sandgate Selectboard agreed to keep the Clerk an elected position for now.

The Sandgate Selectboard discussed whether to change the Town Clerk from an elected office to a position appointed by the Selectboard. Joe Nolan raised the recurring conversation, saying the board had been considering appointment as an alternative to running an elected race every three years.
