The city council approved a resolution authorizing the use of eminent domain, if necessary, to acquire fee simple title to specified lots for a downtown roadway and parking improvement project. Assistant city attorney Veronica Rivera explained the resolution and noted the city’s condemnation consultant and legal counsel would pursue negotiations first and proceed to condemnation only if settlement cannot be reached.
