Butte County staff told the Planning Commission Sept. 24 that 13 parcels adjacent to Rancher Airport currently zoned Medium Density Residential would be reclassified to Very Low Density Residential with a 1-acre minimum. Mark Mitchell explained the parcels are in the B2 airport-compatibility zone, which imposes a 5-acre minimum under overlay rules, and that the proposed change prevents future owners from dividing property assuming higher densities allowed under the base zone.
