Commissioner Gene King urged Meriwether County to apply for water-withdrawal permits from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division to secure future water allocations from Lake Meriwether and the Flint River. He said the county owns the lake property but not necessarily the water rights and warned that existing municipal permits could be increased unless the county acts.
