Arleta Day of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (Chemeketa Chapter) presented a proclamation to Marion County commissioners on Sept. 18 designating Sept. 17-23, 2024, as Constitution Week. The presentation recounted key historic facts about the U.S. Constitution, including its 1787 signing, ratification, and the later addition of the Bill of Rights. Commissioners discussed the document's importance; Commissioner Willis read the preamble as part of the observance.
