County warns insurance renewals could widen 2027 shortfall
Kittitas County staff told the budget subcommittee a risk-pool renewal and benefits renewal could add about $275,000 and $600,000 respectively to the 2027 shortfall, and that these figures remain preliminary.

During the budget briefing, staff said the county's included risk-pool renewal estimate was increased after consulting the pool. "They came back with an even higher number. So we ended up adding another 275 k to that general fund number," staff said, noting the risk-pool rate is not final and could be higher.
