Committee advances maritime apprenticeship study bill for statewide youth program

SB 3,050 would direct Honolulu Community College and state maritime partners to study and develop a plan for a statewide maritime youth apprenticeship program for ages 16–24 and report recommendations to the Legislature. Committee members heard the deputy attorney general and college representatives stand on written testimony supporting the measure; no significant opposition was raised during the hearing.
