A public commenter who said his request to speak was denied used time to reference controversial historical writings; the chair and others called the remarks inappropriate and clarified processes for adding agenda items.

During the public-comment portion of the meeting, a DeSoto resident, David Dovinell, told the board he had requested time through the veteran service officer but said the administrative coordinator denied his request. He used his allotted minutes to cite a historical author and made comments the chair deemed inappropriate.
