State resurfacing of STH 80 through Highland delayed after easement issues
Village staff told the board that the STH 80 resurfacing scheduled for summer 2026 has been postponed to 2027 because two property owners have not completed easement paperwork, a change likely to increase village costs.

Village public works updates at the April 1 meeting warned that the state Department of Transportation has postponed resurfacing of STH 80 (Spring Street and Main Street) originally slated for this summer. Tom Hebgen told trustees the entire section of STH 80 within the village was postponed because two property owners have not completed required easement paperwork; the DOT still intends to perform the work in 2027 if easements are resolved.
