Marriott‑Slaterville officials told the council that the Utah Legislature enacted House Bill 48 in 2025, requiring municipalities to adopt Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) building codes and maps. Staff explained that the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands directed the city to create a high‑risk WUI map, which the city incorporated into its Sensitive Lands/Hazard Area Overlay Map.
