Kersey introduces 2024 International Fire Code; first reading approved
On Aug. 11 the Board approved first reading of Ordinance 2026-0010 to adopt the 2024 International Fire Code; the Platte Valley Fire Protection District said the update aligns the district with the Town’s 2024 International Codes and addresses emerging safety issues such as energy storage systems.

Mayor Nathan Roth read Ordinance No. 2026-0010 on first reading, proposing adoption of the 2024 International Fire Code by reference. Town Attorney Rick Zier explained that, under state law, first reading begins the process and that a public hearing and second reading will be scheduled for the Board's Sept. 8 meeting before final adoption.
