The superintendent said USDA Food and Nutrition Service deputy under secretary Patrick Penn visited the district's meal-preparation sites and student nutrition programs alongside Mountain Plains Region acting child nutrition director Josh McDaniels and Kansas Department of Education child nutrition and wellness director Kelly Chenay. The visit included a tour of the district bakery at Pinkney Community Connections, where staff prepare scratch-made items, and a breakfast with students at Hillcrest Elementary.
