Selectboard backs plan to replace Main Street center main and limit business disruptions
Oct 12, 2026

Engineers presented three options for Main Street: (1) replace the center main and the loops feeding buildings, which would require temporary water to each building and trigger Division of Fire Safety 24-hour fire-watch permits; (2) replace the center main and use existing six-inch ductile-iron loops as sleeves for new services (requiring construction easements from property owners and licensed plumbers inside buildings); or (3) replace only the center main placed outside parking spaces and tie into existing loops and services, likely allowing one lane to remain open and causing least disruption.
