Galax City Council rezoned a Railroad Avenue property to allow a remote control raceway, approved a conditional-use permit for a first-floor apartment on Grayson Street (with one abstention), and tabled a storage-unit conditional-use request pending definition and Planning Commission guidance.

Galax City Council voted March 17 to rezone Parcel 65-3 (343–355 Railroad Avenue) from M-2 Heavy Industrial to B-2 General Business to permit operation of a remote control raceway. Planning Director Williams told council the Planning Commission recommended approval following its March 4 meeting; there were no public comments and the motion passed unanimously.
