At a Dec. 22 work session presentation, Ron Hedgecoke asked the commission to amend the coroner budget by $2,000 to retain an extra deputy coroner, arguing that having three coroners enables 24-hour coverage. Hedgecoke said deputy coroners receive only $25 per pay period and must attend annual training.
