Pittsburg County sets special election to replace sheriff after resignation
The Pittsburg County Commission amended Resolution 25-201 and set a special election to fill the unexpired term of Sheriff Chris Morris, with filing April 1–3, 2026, a special primary June 16, 2026, runoff Aug. 25 and general election Nov. 3, 2026.

The Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 3 approved an amended resolution to call a special election for sheriff after the resignation of Sheriff Chris Morris. Chairman Charlie Rogers explained the correction to the general election date before the board voted unanimously to adopt the amended Resolution 25-201.
