Erath County Commissioners authorized precincts on Oct. 19 to purchase road materials for safety repairs on an as-needed basis while the county completes solicitation and contracts scheduled for November. The judge told the court the measure is intended to avoid operational interruptions but not to allow stockpiling; the county will publicize bid opportunities.
