Council repeals outdated policing work-schedule code section
Council adopted Ordinance 1065-2026 to repeal section 2.72.0.020 of the municipal code, removing scheduling limitations for police that staff said are outdated and superseded by labor agreements and current practices.

Marissa told council staff had reviewed section 2.72.0.020 and concluded the scheduling limitations were no longer necessary or reflective of current staffing practices and labor agreements. "So, repealing this section will remove outdated scheduling language from the municipal code while preserving the city's ability to manage fleet staff through administrative policy and their applicable labor agreements," she said.
