The Rome Floyd County Development Authority announced at its Sept. 8, 2026 called meeting that it will proceed with demolition work at the Battey Business Complex after bid protests were submitted and addressed. Chair Jimmy Byars and counsel Andy Davis reported that Sessler Wrecking filed two bid protests after not being awarded the demolition contract; both protests "have been responded to," and the Authority will move forward under the existing agreement with Atlanta Demolition LLC.
