Neighbors press Leon Valley to test delineators, ask for engineering study for Hodges/Althea cut‑throughs
Oct 21, 2026
Residents of Hodges and Althea urged the council to reduce cut‑through traffic near Bandera/Callahan/Evers by installing flexible delineators or making Hodges a dead‑end; staff reported current counts (Hodges ~370 vehicles/day; Althea ~420) and recommended either short‑term enforcement or a neighborhood engineering study; council asked staff for cost estimates and to return with options.
The full story
City staff presented a long‑running neighborhood concern about Hodges and Althea being used as cut‑throughs to reach Evers and Bandera. Staff noted earlier 2016 traffic‑calming work (islands and one‑way signage) and said current automated counts show roughly 370 vehicles per day on Hodges and about 420 on Althea with average speeds around 10–11 mph; staff said many users are likely residents, not high‑speed cut‑through drivers, but acknowledged visible wrong‑way and left‑turn violations at peak times.
