Engineer: Mathis test well shows possible high dissolved solids; blending and TWDB grant proposed
Mar 9, 2026
Ardurra reported conductivity tests show anticipated total dissolved solids (TDS) between 1,000 and 1,500 ppm for a new Mathis well; short-term blending with lake water and a long-term reverse osmosis TWDB grant application are proposed.
The full story
Robert Viera of engineering firm Ardurra told the City Council the contractor has drilled the test hole and run conductivity tests for the new water well. Based on those tests, he said the well’s TDS is anticipated between 1,000 and 1,500 parts per million; he noted the TCEQ secondary constituent maximum for TDS is 1,000 ppm and chlorides 300 ppm. Viera emphasized that actual water quality will only be known after casing, screening and well development.
