The Jackson County Board unanimously adopted a proclamation on May 18 declaring June 2026 as Men’s Health Month and June 15–21, 2026 as Men’s Health Week in Jackson County. The proclamation highlights nationwide disparities in life expectancy and higher rates of certain health problems among men and boys, and it cites the purpose of encouraging preventive care and greater attention to mental health needs often described as "Deaths of Despair."
