Mayor Sean Van Gordon opened the meeting by reading proclamations designating October 18–24, 2026, as Spiritual Care Week for PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center Riverbend and PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Hospice. He described spiritual care as “a recognized and central component of whole‑person health” and called on residents to recognize the role chaplains play for patients, families and staff.
