The Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously approved Mayor Jan Hensley’s recommendation to appoint Assistant Fire Chief Jeremy Channell as Covington’s new fire chief; the motion was moved by Alderman John Edwards and seconded by Alderman C H Sullivan.

Mayor Jan Hensley recommended Assistant Fire Chief Jeremy Channell for appointment as the new Covington fire chief during the board meeting on Aug. 25, 2026. Alderman John Edwards moved to approve the recommendation and Alderman C H Sullivan seconded; the motion passed with all ayes.
