Committee adds environmental-study language; planning notes owner working with TDEC VOAP
Committee approved an amendment requiring environmental study and coordination for the East Bend site; planning said the ownership team is engaged with the Tennessee Department of Environmental Conservation’s VOAP voluntary cleanup program and that TDEC materials will be public and coordinated with Metro Water Services.

Council member Vaux moved an amendment urging environmental study and protections for the site given its adjacency to the Cumberland River and long industrial history. Planning staff said the ownership team is participating in TDEC’s VOAP (Voluntary Cleanup) program and that records from that process are public; planning also said it will work with Metro Water Services on any additional studies and documentation.
