Committee votes to remove itself from RFP selection process

The Public Safety Facility Advisory Committee voted to strike references to itself deciding or evaluating RFP proposals and recommended the town create a separate procurement selection panel. Craig made the motion, citing procurement law and a desire to avoid conflict with MAS guidelines.

The full story

Committee member Craig moved to strike any references to the Public Safety Facility Advisory Committee acting as or participating in the selection process for the RFP; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Craig said the town should form a formal selection committee following procurement rules and that "the town should create their own selection committee for the RFP and follow MAS guidelines for what those individuals, who they should be." The motion directs that decision-making be conducted by a procurement committee rather than the advisory body.
