Marley Peals presented TxtMyGov to the council as a tool to send text messages to residents and people on the city's water system; she said geofencing would allow messages to target specific locations and that the system would increase accessibility for the deaf community. Peals reported that the vendor lowered the annual fee from $2,500 to $2,100 and reduced the setup fee from $1,250 to $1,050, and agreed to increase the message allotment from 25,000 to 40,000 at no additional cost.
