County Administrator Eric Young told the board the county purchased property near Tazewell High School from CNX for $500,000 and that CNX will use the funds to renovate a downtown Richlands facility. Young characterized the payment as effectively an economic development incentive, saying the tax-assessed value was lower and that "we essentially overpaid for the property in lieu of an economic development incentive."
