District considers third coaching stipend as participation climbs

Mitch, the athletics presenter, told the committee the district is seeing unusually high participation in high school athletics and proposed adding a third coaching stipend to support JV teams, safety and playing time. "So that's an 85% participation rate," he said when describing roster numbers and the proportion of students involved. He outlined specific roster trends by sport, including football increasing from 16 rostered athletes in 2021-22 to a projected 28 next season.
