Colby Community Library reports 62,000 circulations; two trustees appointed
Library Director Vicki Calmes told the council the Colby Community Library circulated more than 62,000 items in 2024 and warned of county reimbursement disputes; Mayor Schmidt appointed Amy Underwood and Cathy Johnson to three-year trustee terms, approved by voice vote.

Vicki Calmes, director of the Colby Community Library, presented the library’s 2024 annual report to the Colby Common Council on June 3, saying the library circulated over 62,000 items last year — about 27% of all items circulated in Clark County. She explained that because the library is near the Marathon County line it gets significant use from Marathon County residents and that Clark County has been discussing not reimbursing local libraries for those circulations.
