Summary
District staff promoted an Oct. 2 Community Connections event and reported state-level OSPI committee work on equity resources that includes superintendents and partner organizations.
District staff told the board on Sept. 24 about an upcoming Community Connections event at Jefferson Multipurpose Room on Oct. 2 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and summarized related statewide activity on equity resources coordinated by OSPI.
Amanda Tanner described the Oct. 2 event and listed participating community partners, including Parent Trust for Washington Children (Parent Resource Partnership), Whitman County Public Health, Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse, Suicide Prevention of the Inland Northwest and Community Action Center. She noted the site was chosen to provide bus access and warned of limited parking at the school. "There's a little bit of parking congestion at that school, so keep that in mind," Tanner said, and encouraged attendees to check the district's social media and contact staff with questions.
Superintendent Dr. Maxwell and staff also noted that OSPI convened a new statewide committee focused on equity resources and that superintendents and partner organizations attended the committee's first meeting. The board was told it would receive updates as the state-level work progresses.
The board did not take action; staff encouraged public attendance at the Oct. 2 Community Connections event and said they will share additional information through district channels.
