The Cache County Council voted to appoint George Danes as interim Cache County Executive and swore him into office during a council meeting in September.
The appointment followed notification from Natalie Levi, chair of the Cache County Republican Party, and was made under the statutory provisions the council cited in the meeting as Utah Code 2-20a-1508. The council voted verbally in favor; no roll-call tally was taken on the record.
In his first remarks after being sworn in, Danes thanked the council and said he planned to reorganize the county executive office. During Danes’s report he announced he had received the resignation of Eric Anderson, effective upon Danes’s appointment, and thanked Anderson for his service.
Council members and departing staff members offered brief remarks recognizing prior service and expressing support for Danes. The council provided a nameplate and invited Danes to take the chair to begin duties immediately. There were no amendments or conditions attached to the appointment announced at the meeting.
The council followed up the appointment with routine business; Danes and the council discussed next steps for the office and ongoing items such as the budget process.
