VFW outlines community events, seeks permanent home and support for JROTC programs

He also announced a Martin High School JROTC bowling fundraiser set for Oct. 5 at Playmore; lanes are $200 and include three games and shoes.
Rivas said the post and other veterans groups continue to seek a permanent home. "We're still in works. We're still trying to asking the city of Laredo to help us find a permanent home," he said, noting the post currently uses donated space at a local distributor for meetings.
The VFW is planning its own run (noted for May) and said further details will follow in future meetings. The post asked the committee for assistance or contacts that might help identify a permanent facility and to support a proposed "one-stop shop" where veterans could access multiple services in one location.
The VFW also said it supports nearby veterans' events, including the Sept. 27 run announced by Randy, and will publicize and participate where appropriate.
No formal committee action was taken; the item was an informational report and a request for assistance in locating permanent facilities and coordinating community support.
