Student representative reports activities, fall events and fall musical plans

Easton Anderson, the board’s student representative and an eleventh grader, updated the board on student activities, upcoming events and athletics.

Easton said student council ran a candy drive, is hosting a trunk-or-treat on Oct. 26, and noted the fall musical (Frozen) with show dates beginning Nov. 20. He also highlighted athletics: girls soccer in a section championship, the final home football game before playoffs, volleyball schedules and upcoming winter sports sign-ups.

Elementary and middle-school administrators reported on conferences, field trips and programs. New Heights held field trips and a book fair during conferences; preschool leaders said the district will align preschool conferences and assessments more closely with K–5 next year and that the after-school program (After Wave) is at capacity with 60 students daily. Middle school reported CAPT testing in response to MCA/STAR indicators, a community powwow on Oct. 25, and the start of middle school robotics and related parent meetings.

Board members thanked Easton for the updates; staff said parents can obtain individual score reports for state and local assessments via school offices.
