Commission recommends increasing industrial building coverage in UDC amendment

Aug. 11, 2025 — The Yukon Planning Commission voted to recommend an amendment to Article 4 of the Yukon Unified Development Code to increase maximum building coverage in industrial districts.
Staff explained the amendment is intended to align Yukon’s industrial district building‑coverage limits with comparable communities and to allow larger building footprints while retaining landscaping, parking and setback requirements. Commissioners and public commenters said the change would allow efficient industrial development while requiring other site elements to meet existing standards.
The commission voted to recommend the amendment; the recorded vote was unanimous in favor and the recommendation will go to the City Council for final action.
